The Nile Avengers

Welcome to the story of the Nile Avengers and the third storyline for my Torg Eternity Game. Here we come to the Cosm of the Nile Empire. A mash up of pulp superheroes, the 1930s, Egyptian “fantasy” (mummies, math magic, sorcery from the ancient past). It is a mixture of mayhem and fun and super powers.

I will be introducing you to the three new heroes in a moment, but first a recap of the previous stories and the overall arc of the Campaign.

Campaign Arc:

My storyline takes place during the invasion. The main setting for the game is usually 1 year into the invasion of Core Earth from seven other Reality Cosms, all looking to drain the possibility energy from the planet and eventually absorb the world into their particular reality. Normally only a single cosm would invade a world, but the Earth is so rich in energy that the Gaunt Man has enlisted the aid of 6 other high lords to invade the Earth and share in the spoils. Sort of.

I am running my game during the invasion when everything is still in flux and the forces of darkness don’t have a firm foothold on Core Earth. As I never played in the original version of TORG (a 90’s game) I have zero ties to the storylines, and as I run my game not all of the Cosm books are actually available. Meaning my story diverges very far from the canon of the game.

My over arc is that there are relics of power in each of the cosms. And that in actuality it is just one artefact that has been broken and can be reassembled into a super artefact. Only now in this part of the story have the Delphi Council figured out that this is one relic. They are dispensing teams to the cosms for retrieval of the items.

Manhattan Knights.

The Manhattan Knights were air dropped into Brooklyn with the purpose of reestablishing a forward base and then traveling into Manhattan to find some lost teams of explorers. In Manhattan, they found warlords cutting the island in two, a mysterious Dome from another world, Cat people, and many other strange things.

They also discovered a powerful red crystal that absorbed and stored possibility energy. This was the first relic, but they wouldn’t realize it for a long time. Eventually the Knights would recover many of the missing explorers and even get face to face with Baruk Kaah, the highlord of the Living Lands.

Their initial adventure would take them from day 90 to 106, and then we’d check back in on them as they traveled to up state New York and battled many other strange foes. Taking them to day 142. They fell back to Brooklyn and left the cosm with the relic and returned to the base in Greenland.

This was the end of the Manhattan story, but not of those Knights.

The Irish Knights

The Irish Knights were dispatched from Greenland and into Northern Ireland on the same day the Manhattan Knights set off.

Under a far looser agenda the Irish Knights were charged with defending Donegal and spying on issues in Londonderry. In Londonderry, they discovered a massive army and a navy was being built. The nearest target was Iceland. The knights managed to call in an airstrike and naval bombardment on the city, and while making their escape they came across a stela that was being transported.

Stela are instrumental in the Highlords taking over Core Earth. They control the energy that flips the reality from Earth to Aysle. Our brave knights attacked and destroyed the stela while it was inactive. This marked them for death, and they spent the next few weeks trying to avoid assassins and sorcery.

Breaking the Curse

Fearing that their curse would endanger Donegal they ended up leaving the city and traveling through the country side. This would lead to them joining the Fae on a Wild Hunt, wherein they executed redcaps. As a payment for their services the fae broke the death curse on them.

Returning to Donegal the Knights discovered that over three weeks had passed during their hunt. With the world changing for the worse in their absence. Donegal had recruited other heroes to replace them and they moved their operations to the opposite side of Ireland. To Dublin.

Dublin House

In Dublin they fought sea creatures, dark fae, a twisted Tara Hill Castle, an Ancient Greek Vampire, and various cults. They also united many of the warring gangs of the city and established a new Kingdom of Dublin.

During all of this a relic of power was entrusted to their care and left in a box on their desk. Unused and forlorn. But the Delphi soon discovered its provenance and sent more knights to come pick it up.

During the Irish battles it became apparent that Ireland was becoming its own, third cosm, and that it was slowly cutting itself off from both Core Earth and Asyle. If the Stela in Ireland could be uprooted it would become a magic stronghold that would fend for itself and allow some magic to flow back into Core Earth.

But before those thoughts could be addressed, the Ebon Wand was removed from Ireland and the Irish Knights decided to stay in the newly forming cosm of New Avalon and cede from both the Earth and Aysle.

All in all, this story ran from day 90 until 146.

Sort of Now:

The Nile Avengers picks up on day 160 and glosses over the events that happen in the Cyberpapacy of France. Wherein a unite of soldiers have liberated the third relic and they are on their way to Sicily to relax in a spa owned by the Delphi. In this spa are three heroes who have been kicking ass in the Arabian Peninsula and Turkey. These heroes have gotten to know each other and have been spending the last two weeks in hot tubs and with daily rub downs. Life is good.

But the mission calls them back.

They are introduced to a masked magician named Master Thorn. Master Thorn was once a member of Pharaoh Mobius’s elite math mages. But he grew a conscience and fled over to the Delphi. He is well known in the Nile Empire and as such must travel in disguise. He has the three relics of power and the possible location go the fourth in the Nile Empire.

He’s dropping off his spent troops and picking up these well relaxed knights.

Nile Avenger Roll-Call:

Very tough, but also a little impetuous and not the smartest person in the car. Born on Earth he gained super powers and has been fighting against the Pharaoh for the last 90 days or so.

Paul Scorpio, aka Rocket 5. Is from the world of Terra, where the Nile Empire originates. He was trained as a Rocketeer and the original #5 was killed in action. But Paul managed to get the suit off of his dead mentor and sneak away from the Pharaoh and he flew through the bridge to core earth, trying to find the other Rocket Rangers.

Kemintiri, aka Nephthys is an ancient Mummy. She fought against Mobius’s father, 3000 years ago in Terra. But then she was put down and sealed in a coffin to wither for eternity. When Mobius’s men were looking to resurrect him from the dead, they found Nephthys’s coffin by mistake. They opened it and left her, not realizing that ancient sorcery still preserved her. She has since risen again and uses her sorcery to battle Mobius and his minions.

The story begins…

The story will begin next week when our heroes fly into Alexandria and make their way through a city teeming with people who would kill them if they knew who they really were. They have an ancient dairy which recounts the locations of three great temples buried under the sands. In one of these temples is the Head of Ra, a relic of great power.
