Revision the Second Update #6
Gonna be a Quickie Update. Sorry for that but needs must.
Last Week
I remain ever so slowly getting through the revision process. Again, just a mere three chapters knocked out in the rewrites.
And all of the same players are responsible. This week in school I had roundtable critiques to do in BOTH classes. This required a lot of reading and feedback.
Then I’ve been hunting for a Covid Vaccine, and am happy to announce that I’m scheduled for Wednesday the 14th to get my jabs.
Add on top of that I started putting together the outline for my monthly Call of Cthulhu Posts. Also, setting up the Strahd game and the post that is coming out THIS Thursday.
And finally, I also had a production meeting for a Podcast I will be part of. Yay! This is new news.
Podcast?
Yes. I thought I was being invited for a single interview, but it turned out that they wanted me as a cast member for a new podcast. I can’t get too far into the details. It will be story and TTRPG adjacent, but the core of the topics will be about wargaming, miniature hobbying, and Warhammer 40k.
I have lobbied strongly to make sure that D&D and other Role-Playing games get some equal or fair time. Once that project starts going, I will of course link it here and share the details.
Revision:
I only worked through three chapters in a single session.
I know. That is sad and wrong and I should have the entire book finished, the query letters finished and sent, and everything else done as well.
I have mentioned my struggle with burn out in the previous post. I am struggling quite a bit this term.
On top of all that, this post is actually going live on my birthday.
Yay, me!
I’m beating myself up and yelling at myself for taking time to just be me.
Procrastination, Avoidance, and Shame
How a writer torpedoes themselves from making any ground. While I hope that you dear readers will make me accountable. Many writers aren’t out there displaying their failings.
These posts both shame me, and empower me. As much as I know time is flying by and I am not using it to the fullest, I also get to see my progress in these posts.
I sit in awe of my current professor, Dr. Gabino Iglesias (Twitter or Books) who is teaching several classes, writing 2 novels, revising a third, reviewing books for 2 magazines, and working on articles for others. I’m sure I’m actually forgetting some of his projects. But I’m utterly in awe of the amount of work he is involved with. I am not up to all of that.
Now, am I lesser for it? No. We’re built differently. While I can feel like a total sloth in comparison. I also know that I can produce when I need to and when I don’t have my mind on 10 things all at once.
Bringing it all Together
Like I mentioned above, this needs to be short.
I’m entering finals weeks now. This week will include a LOT of writing that is for my classes as I get both of my finals together. On the good side, one of the things I need to write is a future post, so you’ll all get enjoy a well-polished article.
I’m pretty sure that next couple weeks the posts on Monday are going to be lean. I apologize in advance. However, this Thursday is the first in-character post for the Strahd game. So, hopefully that will please you all.
