Nanowrimo Week 2

Update 23 8-14 November

This will probably be a short one and I’m sorry about that. Lot going on.

Yesterday we had a storm that dropped a tree in my backyard and as I write this post, there are men outside with chainsaws cutting away at it. I have been writing as much as I possibly can… and yet I feel like that isn’t wholly try as well.

I’m still only writing for a number of hours and then stopping and doing other things… so yes, I feel like a could do more writing if I spent more hours at it. But my health has not been good over the last few weeks.

It has been a number of weeks with bad to good to back to bad.

Three weeks ago, ER and a host of testing.

Last week a head cold that made me feel very sick and trouble breathing, anxiety that everything was a heart problem.

This week, breathing eased up but head still dizzy and full of issues. Anxiety still not under control, and other issues I won’t recount the details.

In short, health has been an issue and yet I still push on.

Words

I put the hammer down on getting things done last week. I really put in the time and even went so far as to buy another keyboard that was slim enough to fit in my backpack incase I wanted to work on the go. (The laptops keyboard kept losing the use of the H key, it would come on and off at random, but as I type this the H key has quite working for a full week now. It is dead and done.)

I hammered out three and half chapters, in three very long sessions that saw over 4000 words per session. Hell yes. It was a 13,000-word week, and I ended the week at 26k in the nano and 89900 for the novel overall.

I’m aiming to repeat that feat again THIS week, but my schedule is going to be all up in the air. I have podcast recording, and extra day of work, and probably a new doctor’s appointment. So, we’ll see what we can do. I think it might be four or five smaller session next week. Maybe only 1000 words a day. We’ll get whatever we can get.

Novel Progress

I have just about reached the point in the novel where I was in the 2.0 version of the story. And this week should see me move into the mid-point of the story. The turning point that sees the two separate character group/plot lines intercept one another. Instead of being reactionary and running away from things, they’ll be able to turn around and attack their problems as they share data between the two groups.

From this point forward I have several massive set pieces to work through and many of the chapters should get a little shorter and the pace speeds up as the heroes… become the heroes.

Media Consumption

Read a couple books last week, fell behind in comics, and finished one Korean TV series and started a new one. So, I still have three series going there. I’ll do more on them in a future post (and yes I realize that I have said that at least twice before this post.)

To be wholly honest, I’m feeling a little sick as I write this and the constant noise from the chainsaws is not helping.

Sorry for the short week. See you all next week.
